Confidentiality and informed consent in counselling and psychotherapy
- Tue 4 Sep 2018
The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia has published a report titled “Confidentiality and informed consent in counselling and psychotherapy: A systematic review”. The report looks at empirical evidence about client understandings of informed consent and confidentiality, and the ways that therapists obtain informed consent and understandings about confidentiality. The authors identified a lack of Australian research in this area, which is of concern, given that client and therapist understandings of confidentiality seem to be context and culture specific.
